Murat AŞKAR

Prof. Murat AŞKAR is a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at İzmir University of Economics, with a distinguished career including service as Rector (2019-2023), Vice Rector (2014-2018), and Director of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Middle East Technical University.

His research focuses on:

• Electronic circuits and VLSI design
• Telecommunication systems
• Industrial fault detection using deep learning
• Science policy and technology innovation

He has pioneered projects including Turkey's first VLSI Design Center and Low Orbit Earth Observation Satellite program.

Recent works focus on neural networks for fault detection while earlier contributions established fundamental methods in Bayesian smoothing and CMOS design.
