His research centers on Ottoman military architecture, Balkan provincial administration, and socio-economic structures during the 15th–18th centuries. Using primary Ottoman archival sources like tapu tahrir defterleri (land registers), he examines fortification systems, vakıf (endowment) networks, and post-conflict reconstruction, particularly in contested regions like the Balkans and Black Sea coast. His methodology integrates paleographic analysis with socio-spatial historical frameworks.
Recent publications reveal a trend toward micro-historical studies of specific sanjaks (districts) and fortresses, analyzing how military conflicts and natural disasters shaped Ottoman infrastructure. His 2021–2023 work focuses on Venetian-Ottoman confrontations, earthquake-damaged fortifications, and urban recovery after occupations, demonstrating archival rigor through presidential archive documents and rare siege records.
Dr. KUL has supervised undergraduate theses and led the national research project 'Tırhala Kazasının Sosyal ve İktisadi Yapısı (XV-XVI. yüzyıl)' (2013–2018) on 15th–16th century socio-economic structures. His teaching portfolio includes advanced courses in Ottoman paleography and historical methodology, reflecting his dual expertise in source criticism and imperial administration.
