Muhammad Nabeel Ghayur is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Pikeville, teaching in the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) and Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO). He holds a BPharm, MPhil, and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Karachi, Pakistan, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at King’s College London and McMaster University. His research focuses on drug development from natural products, ethnopharmacology, receptor pharmacology, and calcium channel modulation.
Dr. Ghayur’s teaching responsibilities include courses such as Pharmacology I & II (as Course Director), Osteopathic Patient Care, and Foundations of Clinical Practice. His research explores the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants, particularly in neurological and gastrointestinal disorders. Notable studies include investigations into cholinesterase inhibitors, smooth muscle relaxation mechanisms, and the pharmacological basis of traditional remedies.
His publications span over two decades, with recent work addressing memory-enhancing herbal compounds, medicinal plant applications in Alzheimer’s, and innovative medical education tools like virtual microscopy modules. He has been certified as a Clinical Research Associate and completed the University Teaching Program at McMaster University.
