Muhammad Maqbool

Professor Muhammad Maqbool is a faculty member in the Department of Clinical & Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), School of Health Professions. He holds a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics & Photonics from Ohio University and has prior academic appointments at institutions including Ball State University and the University of Mount Olive. His research focuses on health physics, medical radiation physics, and photonics, with notable contributions to quantum dots, thermal interface materials, and radiation shielding. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, two books, and holds a US patent for a microlaser innovation. He advises graduate students and serves on professional bodies like the Health Physics Society and the Optical Society of America.
