Mu Chiao

Dr. Mu Chiao holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia. He earned his B.S. from National Taiwan University and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley.

His recent publications highlight advancements in soft micropatterned substrates for stem cell maturation, ultra-stretchable hydrogels for sensing, and viscoelastic modeling for cancer diagnostics. He leads the Microsystems and Nanotechnology (MiNa) Group, integrating MEMS with biomedical engineering.

Dr. Chiao's work bridges MEMS fabrication, soft robotics, and biomedical device development. His team explores magnetically actuated systems, hydrogel-based sensors, and biomechanical analysis of cellular behavior.
