Mrinal Saha is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering at The University of Oklahoma. His office is located in Felgar Hall 208A, and he holds regular office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University (2001) and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from BUET, Dhaka (1988).
His research focuses on advanced materials processing, polymer foams, nanocomposites, and material characterization. Key areas include composite materials, sandwich structures, multifunctional materials, and impact dynamics. He has contributed to studies on thermal conductivity of CNT-reinforced nanocomposites and cure kinetics of thermosetting polyurethanes.
Dr. Saha has received notable awards, including the Junior Faculty Research Award (2010) and a Best Paper Award at ASME (2010). He actively contributes to professional organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM), serving as Chair of the Materials Division of ASME (2010–2012).
His recent publications (2009–2011) explore nanocomposite thin films, polyurethane foams, and dynamic shear response of materials. He teaches courses like Elastic Stress Analysis and Nanocomposites at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
