Dr. Mostafa El-Said serves as the Founding Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Professor within the College of Computing at Grand Valley State University. He additionally holds the position of Director of Assessment and Accreditation for the College of Computing.
His research expertise centers on security and privacy of connected systems, with specific focus on developing anti-AI intrusion detection systems for vehicular networks and designing privacy-aware authentication schemes for Internet of Vehicles (IoV) systems. His work bridges theoretical cybersecurity concepts with practical applications in emerging connected technologies.
Dr. El-Said maintains active professional engagement as a panelist for the National Science Foundation's IUSE program and has held editorial positions with prestigious publications including IEEE Computer, Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks, the Urban Transportation Journal, and The International Journal of Learning. He serves as an ABET Program Evaluator and is a dedicated member of IEEE and the Computer Society.
Within the academic setting, he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in networking, system security, and wireless communications, contributing to curriculum development and educational standards through his leadership roles.
