Morana Jarec

Dr. sc. Morana Jarec is a researcher at the Institute for Anthropology in Zagreb, Croatia, specializing in infrastructure anthropology, built environment studies, and the anthropology of place and space. With a doctorate in ethnology and anthropology from the University of Zagreb, she focuses on population interaction and DIY culture.

Her research explores the social and cultural shaping of space through infrastructure projects, urban rituals, street theatre, and music. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to built environments and population dynamics.

Since 2024, she has led the Project Management Unit at the Institute for Anthropology, managing initiatives like the COST Junior Leader project Talent Pool and the Croatian-Slovenian bilateral program SLOHRanA. She has also administered major EU-funded projects, including iNEAL (Neandertal Legacy) and UnCoVer (COVID-19 response).

She serves as Legal Entity Appointed Representative (LEAR) for the Institute for Anthropology and is a member of the European Anthropological Association and the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES). Her professional training includes financial management of EU research projects and stakeholder engagement strategies.
