Monika Weychert

Dr. Monika Weychert is an Assistant Professor at SWPS University in Warsaw, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Department of Journalism and Social Communication. She serves as a coordinator of the Journalism and Communication Program and is a member of the Center for Comparative Research on Memory Cultures. Her expertise spans cultural studies, art criticism, and social communication.

Her research focuses on the social history of the Roma, contemporary Roma art, and visual representations of the Roma Holocaust (Porrajmos) within frameworks of oblivion and remembrance. She has collaborated extensively with cultural institutions such as the Foksal Gallery, the Xawery Dunikowski Sculpture Museum in Królikarnia, and the Institute of Public Space Research at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Dr. Weychert has authored over a dozen articles in critical journals and exhibition catalogs, curated dozens of contemporary art exhibitions, and edited volumes including Polish Journal of Landscape Studies (2/2019) and "Romano Kher. On Roma Art, Aesthetics, and Experience" (2013). Her doctoral dissertation on the Roma Holocaust received national recognition, and she has held scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

At SWPS University, she teaches seminars on contemporary culture, image culture, copywriting workshops, journalistic genres, and diploma seminars. She also contributes to academic governance as a member of the audit committee of the Polish branch of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA).
