About
Monika R. Fleshner is a Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder. She leads the Stress Physiology Laboratory, where her research focuses on neural, hormonal and immunological responses to acute/chronic stressors and mechanisms of stress resilience produced by exercise.
Education:
- B.S. Psychology, Iowa State University (1982-1984)
- M.A. Behavioral Neuroscience, University of Colorado (1986-1988)
- Ph.D. Behavioral Neuroscience, University of Colorado (1988-1990)
Her research examines interactions between physiological systems during stressor exposure, with particular emphasis on how exercise enhances stress resistance. Current investigations explore neuro-immune communication pathways and physiological adaptations to physical/psychological stressors.
