Monika Baer

Monika Baer is a Professor at the University of Wrocław's Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences. Her work focuses on Central/Eastern Europe, post-socialist transformation, Europeanization, legal agency, and gender/sexuality studies, with emphasis on citizenship, civil society, and activism. She explores how emotions shape political fields and anthropological knowledge production, particularly in late industrial societies.

• Research Trends: 15 years of publications examine LGBTQ+ rights in Poland, gender dynamics in transitional communities, and anthropological theories of late industrialism. Her work bridges academic scholarship with direct engagement in policy debates and activist movements.
