Monica Liu

Dr. Monica Liu is an Assistant Professor at the University of St. Thomas, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on gender, globalization, family dynamics, immigration, race/ethnicity, Asian American experiences, digital technology/media, and qualitative methods. She previously taught at Colgate University and Carleton College.

Education:

• BA in Business Administration, University of Washington, Seattle

Research Interests: Dr. Liu explores cross-border marriages between Chinese women and Western men, institutional racism against Asian women leaders in higher education, and the sociological impacts of digital technology. Her work bridges global migration patterns with intersectional analyses of race, gender, and technology.

Teaching: In Fall 2025, she teaches Intro to Sociology (SOCI 100-L03), Research Methods in Sociology (SOCI 210-D01), and 'The Future of Work: AI & Tech' (SOCI 398-01).
