About
Dr. Monica Frazier is a Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at Columbus State University. She also serves as the Principal Investigator and Director of the Southwest Georgia LSAMP Alliance. Her research focuses on cancer cell growth mechanisms and the structure-activity relationships of imidazolium/benzimidazolium salts.
Education:
- B.S. in Chemistry, Alabama State University (1992)
- PhD in Microbiology/Virology, University of Alabama at Birmingham (2001)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Emory University Winship Cancer Institute (2004)
Research Interests: Investigates proteomic changes in prostate cancer, antiviral mechanisms using modified poliovirus replicons, and drug discovery for cancer therapies. Current work emphasizes molecular mechanisms of cancer cell viability suppression through chemical compounds.
