Monica Bock is Professor of Sculpture and Ceramic Art at the University of Connecticut's School of Fine Arts, where she co-heads the Sculpture/Ceramics Area and leads the Ceramic Art Program. Her artistic practice creates mixed media sculptural installations often based on castings of the body and found objects, with thematic focus on tensions in maternal life and the fragility of kinship.
Bock has exhibited nationally at venues including Real Art Ways in Hartford, Art in General in New York City, Mobius in Boston, Pittsburgh's Mattress Factory, Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art, and Phantom Galleries L.A. She holds a BA in Art and Art History from Oberlin College, studied ceramics in Japan through an Oberlin Shansi Association fellowship, and earned BFA and MFA degrees in Ceramics and Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
