Mona Rizvi

Mona Rizvi is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the College of Integrated Science & Engineering (CISE) at James Madison University. She holds a Ph.D. and B.S. from Old Dominion University (2004 and 1985, respectively). Prior to her current role, she served as an Associate Professor at Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan, 2013-2021), a Lecturer at Texas Tech University’s Costa Rica Campus (2021-2022), and held academic positions at Norfolk State University (2005-2013). Her career includes over two decades of industry experience as a Software Engineer and Software Development Manager (1984-2004).

Her research focuses on Computer Science Education, Pervasive Computing, and Wireless and Mobile Networks. She develops innovative educational tools, such as mobile games for syntax learning and Scratch-based introductory courses targeting at-risk students. Her work also addresses cybersecurity in vehicular networks and QoS optimization in satellite and cellular systems.

Her scholarly contributions span topics like vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), modular simulation frameworks for healthcare training (e.g., VNurse), and frameworks for location-based services. She has explored traffic management in emergency scenarios and resource allocation in multimedia networks.
