About
Molly Henry is an Assistant Professor at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, and simultaneously leads the 'Neural and Environmental Rhythms' research group as a Max Planck Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany. Her research investigates neural synchronization mechanisms between brain rhythms and environmental rhythms in music, speech, and auditory stimuli.
Her work employs a multidisciplinary approach combining psychophysics, electrophysiology, non-invasive brain stimulation, and mathematical modeling to understand individual variability and developmental changes in brain-environment synchronization across the lifespan. Current projects examine how these synchronization abilities impact real-world auditory perception and cognitive processing.
Dr. Henry received her PhD in Experimental Psychology from Bowling Green State University and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognition and Brain Sciences (Leipzig) and University of Western Ontario. Her research is supported by prestigious grants including a Max Planck Research Group award and European Research Council Starting Grant.
Her laboratory investigates practical applications of neural synchronization research, including potential interventions for age-related cognitive decline and enhanced auditory processing in complex environments.
