About
Dr. Mojtaba Lashgari is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME), part of the Department of Engineering Science. He joined in May 2023 under Dr. Abhirup Banerjee's group, focusing on developing AI-driven tools for real-time analysis of multimodal cardiac imaging data to enhance patient care in catheterization labs. His work includes automated identification of coronary blockages, blood flow assessment, and myocardial perfusion evaluation.
He earned his PhD at the University of Leeds (2023) under Prof. Alejandro Frangi and Prof. Jürgen Schneider, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 program. His doctoral research developed an in-silico framework for microstructure-sensitive myocardial diffusion-weighted MRI, bridging computational modeling and medical imaging.
Research Interests: Medical Image Computing, In-Silico Medicine, and Multimodal Medical Data Integration & Analysis (MultiMeDIA lab). His publications span AI-driven cardiac imaging, virtual imaging trials in MRI, and dental micro-CT denoising techniques.
Grants & Funding:
- European Union’s Horizon 2020 program (PhD funding)
Labs & Affiliations: MultiMeDIA Lab (led by Dr. Abhirup Banerjee), Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME).
