Mohanad Nada

Dr. Mohanad Nada, also known as Dr. Mo, is an Associate Professor of Pathology/Hematology and the Department Chair of the Department of Medical & Health Sciences at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS). He is a medical specialist in immunopathology with extensive training and research experience in onco-immunology and pathology, gained in the U.S. and other countries.

His educational background includes:

• Ph.D. from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine
• Graduate Diploma in Public Health from University of Iowa College of Public Health
• M.Sc. from Tikrit University
• Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics (UIHC)

Dr. Nada's primary research focuses on tumor immunology and immunotherapy, aiming to develop novel cancer treatments by harnessing the body's immune system. His work bridges laboratory research and clinical applications in oncology, with a particular emphasis on γδ T cell-based therapies and the role of immune checkpoints in cancer.

His recent publications (2010-2019) demonstrate a consistent focus on cancer immunotherapy, particularly utilizing γδ T cells. His research explores innovative strategies such as metabolic engineering of bacteria, bisphosphonate prodrugs, and checkpoint blockade to enhance T cell responses against tumors. These studies span disciplines including immunology, oncology, and molecular biology.

Dr. Nada has received several accolades for his work:

• Munich Cancer Center Award for best-presented paper at the ITOC 06 conference in Vienna (2019)
• Obermann Graduate Institute for Advanced Studies fellowship

With over six years of teaching experience in American and Iraqi medical schools, Dr. Nada has mentored numerous students. He is open to collaborations and actively seeks research partnerships with physicians and researchers in his field.

Dr. Nada collaborates with international research teams in the U.S. and Europe, focusing on tumor immunology. He is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the American Association of Immunologists (AAI), and the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).
