Mohammed Abouelleil Rashed is a Visiting Lecturer in Philosophy at King's College London and Wellcome ISSF Research Fellow at Birkbeck College. His scholarship bridges philosophy of psychiatry, mad studies, and Islamic perspectives on mental health.
Research examines concepts of identity in mental health activism, epistemological boundaries between spiritual/psychopathological experiences, and ethical dimensions of psychiatric practice. Publications include the monograph Madness and the Demand for Recognition (Oxford, 2018) analyzing identity politics in mad activism.
Current projects investigate religious experience-psychopathology distinctions and peer support worker epistemologies. Teaching covers philosophy of mental disorder across graduate programs.
