Mohammadreza Abbasi Naderpoor is a researcher specializing in the geography of wine, social geography, and formerly geography of risks. He holds a doctorate from Paris Nanterre University (formerly Paris Ouest University Nanterre La Défense) in the Doctoral School of Economics, Organization and Society with a focus on spatial and urban planning.
His primary research centers on wine geography, examining territories, landscapes, and societies of Douro and Porto wines as levers for territorial development and competitiveness in globalization. This includes metropolisation through wine, patrimonialization of rural areas, oenotourism, consumer markets, and epistemology of wine geography. His secondary research explores social workers during the Covid-19 pandemic and poverty in French territories, while previously investigating tsunami risks in Indonesia.
Current research projects include:
- Since 2021: Associate researcher in TransAgri project on crises and changes in French agriculture (led by Monique Poulot, Stéphane Angles, François Legouy)
- 2021-2022: Member of COSI Research Program on social innovations during Covid-19 (funded by French National Research Agency)
