Mohammad Hossein Zarifi

Mohammad Hossein Zarifi is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus, specializing in Electrical Engineering. He serves as a graduate student supervisor and directs the Okanagan Microelectronics and Gigahertz Applications (OMEGA) Lab.

Dr. Zarifi's research focuses on state-of-the-art sensors with emphasis on microwave resonators, high-speed and low-power analog circuit design, and analog-to-digital converters for various applications. His specific research projects include Passive Planar Microwave Resonator for Oil Sand Applications, NanoTube Integrated Passive Planar Microwave Resonator, Microelectro mechanical Devices (MEMS), Integrated Circuit Design (VLSI-Analog), and Integrated Circuit for Implantable Biomedical Applications.

Dr. Zarifi has received the 2015 CMC-NRC first place award for innovative microwave sensors. He is a senior member of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society and the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, and serves as a reviewer for several academic journals and conferences.

As an educator, he teaches Introduction to VLSI Systems (ENGR466), Microwave Systems (ENGR470), and System Dynamics (APSC246). His work bridges theoretical concepts with practical applications in sensor technology and circuit design, particularly for biomedical and communication systems.

Dr. Zarifi leads the OMEGA Lab, which focuses on advancing microelectronics and gigahertz applications through innovative research in microwave sensors and integrated circuit design.
