Miyeon Oh is Distinguished Chair in Korea Policy, Senior Security and Defense Researcher, and Professor of Policy Analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. She plays a key leadership role in expanding RAND's research on East Asian security and U.S.-ROK strategic alignment, while mentoring junior researchers and building regional partnerships.

She has deep expertise in Sino-Russian relations and alliance dynamics in Northeast Asia.
Her recent publications highlight trends in naval shipbuilding competition, policy options for South Korea in the context of U.S.-China technological rivalry, and strategic assessments of the Indo-Pacific region. These works reflect her interdisciplinary approach, combining defense policy, economic security, and technology governance.

Miyeon Oh has held significant advisory and leadership roles across major policy institutions. She previously directed the Korea Studies program at Johns Hopkins SAIS and founded the Asia Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council. Her public-sector experience includes roles at the United Nations and South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She actively contributes to high-impact policy research and strategic dialogues, particularly on Korea-related security challenges and international cooperation.
She is affiliated with RAND's global security and geopolitical competition research teams, contributing to studies on defense strategy, technology policy, and international diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific region.
