Mitzi M. Saunders is a Professor and Coordinator of the Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS) program at the McAuley School of Nursing, University of Detroit Mercy. With over 20 years as a certified Clinical Nurse Specialist, she advocates for CNS roles in healthcare policy and legislative processes.
Her research addresses family caregiving challenges, particularly in dementia and heart failure contexts. She edited the book 10 Nursing Interventions for Family Caregivers (2024) and teaches interprofessional health policy courses.
