Mitra Esfandiarei

Mitra Esfandiarei, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Midwestern University's College of Graduate Studies in Arizona. She holds an affiliated appointment at the University of British Columbia in Anesthesiology, Pharmacology, and Therapeutics. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, M.Sc. degrees from the Razzi Vaccine & Serum Research Institute and the University of British Columbia, and a B.Sc. from the University of Tehran. She is fluent in English and Persian.

Research Interests: Dr. Esfandiarei's research focuses on vascular biology, particularly genetic aortic aneurysms and cardiovascular complications in neurodegenerative diseases. Her work explores mechanisms behind Marfan syndrome-related aortic dysfunction and neurovascular vulnerabilities post-TBI. Techniques used include mouse models, in vivo imaging, and molecular biology.
