Misti Williams is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication, Media, & Culture at Coastal Carolina University. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (Political Communication) from the University of Washington (2010), along with an M.A. (2005) and B.A. (2002) from the same institution. Her research focuses on strategic political communication, global media dynamics, and the intersection of politics and popular culture. Notably, she has explored the communication practices of the Chinese diaspora in Vancouver, BC, and their political mobilization. Dr. Williams has presented at national and international conferences on topics such as media and terrorism, public diplomacy, and diasporic media use. She teaches courses on political communication, mass media in the U.S., and propaganda/disinformation.
