PD Dr. Miriam Altermatt is a Privatdozent (equivalent to Associate Professor) at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST) of ETH Zurich. She serves as a tutor for the Master's program in Health Sciences and Technology, specializing in Medical Technology, Human Movement Science and Sport, Neuroscience, and Rehabilitation and Inclusion.
Her research spans several key areas in neuroscience and rehabilitation:
- Neural Control of Movement
- Neurophysiology
- Neurorehabilitation
- Resilience
Her group actively investigates neural control of bimanual movements, motor fatigability, regulation of the arousal system, and upper limb rehabilitation, aiming to translate basic science into clinical practice.
Dr. Altermatt leads the Neural Control of Movement group (www.ncm.hest.ethz.ch), which is dedicated to advancing the understanding of human movement and developing innovative technologies for neurorehabilitation.
