Miriam Adeney is a Professor Emerita of World Christian Studies at Seattle Pacific University's School of Theology. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Wheaton College (1967), an MA in Journalism from Syracuse University (1969), and a PhD in Anthropology from Washington State University (1980). Her career at SPU spans from 1976 to her retirement. Adeney's research focuses on global Christianity, world religions, gender, diaspora communities, and cross-cultural ministry. She serves on boards such as Christianity Today International and the Lausanne Movement's diaspora task force.
Her work emphasizes bridging cultural divides, particularly with Muslim women and in humanitarian crises. Notable awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award from Christians for Biblical Equality.
