Mirani Litster is a Lecturer in Archaeology at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from the Australian National University and has previously taught at James Cook University and the University of Canberra. Her research spans island and coastal archaeology, early globalisation, and intercultural encounters, with regional focus on Australia, the Indian Ocean, and the Pacific.

As Editor-in-Chief of Australian Archaeology, she shapes the field’s scholarly output. Her writings, such as on First Nations astronomical knowledge, highlight interdisciplinary trends bridging archaeology, anthropology, and Indigenous studies.
