Minuette Floyd

Minuette Floyd is a Professor in the School of Visual Art and Design at the University of South Carolina. She holds a Ph.D. in Art Education from Florida State University, an M.Ed. in Art Education from the University of North Carolina, and a B.F.A. from Winston-Salem State University.

Her research focuses on challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about Africa through ethnographic methods, photography, and video. She leads study abroad programs to London, South Africa, and Ghana, and her work documents African American camp meeting traditions, supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, South Carolina Arts Commission, and South Carolina Humanities Council.

Floyd’s accolades include the 2025 National Art Education Association School for Art Leaders award, the 2024 South Carolina Governor’s Award for the Arts in Education, and the 2024 South Carolina Art Education Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
