Minoo Derayeh

Minoo Derayeh is Associate Professor in the Department of Equity Studies at York University, specializing in Islamic studies, Iranian culture, and gender relations.

Her research intersects gender studies with religious analysis, focusing on Iranian societal transformation, Islamic social justice frameworks, and representations of Islam in contemporary media and culture. She authored 'Gender Equality in Iranian History: From Pre-Islamic Times to the Present'.

Professor Derayeh teaches courses on Islam and human rights, equity in education, and racism in schooling. She has held leadership roles including Chair of the Faculty Council and Department of Equity Studies.
