Mingda Qiao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, starting in Fall 2025. His research focuses on learning theory, theoretical computer science, and sequential decision-making frameworks. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University (2025) and a BEng in Computer Science from Tsinghua University.
Before joining UMass, he served as a FODSI postdoc at UC Berkeley and MIT, where he contributed to collaborative federated learning and prediction theory research. He actively reviews for top conferences and journals in machine learning and theoretical computer science.
