Dr. Ming Tan is a board-certified Professor in both the Division of Infectious Diseases (Department of Medicine) and the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at UC Irvine School of Medicine. He specializes in infectious diseases with a focus on chlamydia and sexually transmitted infections. His research explores bacterial pathogenesis, gene regulation, and systems biology.
Dr. Tan completed his medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, followed by internal medicine residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and an infectious disease fellowship at UC San Francisco. He currently sees patients at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, CA.
His academic contributions span clinical practice, research in microbial genetics, and interdisciplinary studies on host-pathogen interactions. Active in teaching and mentoring, he maintains affiliations with multiple departments at UCI.
