About
Mina Xu is a Lecturer (P.Eng.) in the School of Sustainable Energy Engineering at Simon Fraser University (SFU), affiliated with the Faculty of Applied Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical and Materials Engineering from the University of Alberta (2014) and M.A.Sc./B.A.Sc. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Central South University (2010/2007). Her research focuses on corrosion prediction/prevention, anti-corrosion coatings, and materials for energy storage devices. She also teaches courses in applied electrochemistry, energy storage systems, and professional engineering ethics.
Her research interests span corrosion mechanisms, electrochemical processes, and sustainable energy technologies. Recent work includes mathematical modeling of corrosion rates, Bayesian network-based vulnerability assessments for pipelines, and electrodeposition of metals like molybdenum and aluminum. She actively contributes to engineering education through courses addressing sustainable energy design, hydrogen energy economics, and professional ethics.
Mina Xu has published extensively in journals such as Journal of Power Sources, Progress in Organic Coatings, and Electrochimica Acta, with a focus on materials science and electrochemical applications. She is a member of the Canadian Engineering Education Association (CEEA) and actively involved in curriculum development for sustainable energy engineering programs.
