Min Zhao is a Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Genomics at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She holds a PhD from Peking University and completed postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University. Zhao leads a research group focused on multi-omics data integration at the GeneCology Research Centre.
Her research develops computational frameworks for analyzing genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data across cancer types and marine organisms. Zhao's group creates bioinformatics tools for applications including CRISPR detection, circRNA analysis, and cancer biomarker discovery. Research funding includes grants from the Australian Research Council and Australian Institute of Marine Sciences.
Zhao serves on editorial boards for PLoS One, PeerJ, and PeerJ Computer Science. She has supervised multiple PhD students and co-authored over 85 scientific publications on topics including cancer genomics, bioinformatic tool development, and marine organism genomics.
