Dr. Min Maung is a Professor and Edwards Enhancement Chair in Business at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan. His expertise spans corporate finance, cross-border mergers & acquisitions, venture capital, and corporate governance. He holds a PhD from the University of Alberta and degrees from the University of Utah (B.S., MBA, M.S.).
His research focuses on asymmetric information in financial markets, the impact of social norms and religion on business decisions, and the role of governance structures in shaping financial outcomes. Notable projects include analyzing how social trust influences entrepreneurial finance and investigating cross-border M&A dynamics through lenses of reputation risk and historical nation ties.
Recent publications explore religion's role in venture investing, risk aversion in global mergers, and the interplay between political connections and industrial pollution in China. His work has been published in journals like International Review of Financial Analysis and Journal of International Financial Markets.
Dr. Maung currently leads a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grant examining the impact of board gender diversity on firm performance (2022-2024). He teaches advanced corporate finance courses including COMM 461 and MBA 870.
