Milija Gluhovic

Milija Gluhovic is a Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick, affiliated with the School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures. He joined in 2006 and holds administrative roles including Head of Theatre and Performance Studies and Executive Committee member of the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR). His research focuses on contemporary European theatre, memory studies, European identity discourses, and the socio-political dimensions of performance.

His work explores intersections between performance and historical memory, with notable publications like Performing European Memories (2013) and Performing the Secular (2017). Recent projects include the EUTOPIA-funded 'Thinking through the Silk Roads' network examining cultural exchanges along historical trade routes. His research has garnered international media attention, including awards and features in major outlets like The New York Times and BBC.

Advising & Grants: Supervises 8 PhD students, 2 postdoctoral fellows, and 1 MRes student. Led AHRC-funded Eurovision research (2010-2012) and British Academy's 'Cultures of the Left' project. Currently directs the Silk Roads interdisciplinary initiative.

Labs/Networks: Active in Warwick’s Performance and Politics Network, GRP Connecting Cultures, and Social Theory Centre. International memberships include IFTR, PSi, and TaPRA.
