About
Miles Dyck is a Professor in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on long-term agroecological experiments, soil fertility, and transport processes in managed ecosystems. He actively participates in the Land Reclamation International Graduate School (LRIGS) program. Dr. Dyck teaches courses such as Soil Physics, Soil Formation and Landscape Processes, and Advanced Soil Classification. He has received notable awards including the ASTech Award for Innovation in Agricultural Science (2015) and the ALES Teacher of the Year (2011/2012). He chairs the Breton Plots Management Team and maintains affiliations with the Canadian Society of Soil Science and Soil Science Society of America. His work integrates field studies, advanced analytical techniques like laser spectroscopy, and machine learning to address environmental and agricultural challenges.
His educational background includes a PhD and Professional Agrologist (PAg) certification. Courses taught span undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing soil science fundamentals and practical field skills. Research interests extend to climate change impacts, soil health indicators, and precision agriculture tools.
