Milena Rizzo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Catania (UNICT), where she has been serving since 2007. She previously held academic positions at the University of Catanzaro, first as a Researcher (1992) and then as Associate Professor (2002). Her institutional affiliations include significant roles in academic governance and international collaboration.
Her research focuses on Pharmaceutical Chemistry with emphasis on Instrumental Chemical Analysis applied to pharmacokinetic studies of active substances affecting the Central Nervous System and Cardiovascular System. She also investigates natural substances with antioxidant properties and the determination of biomarkers related to oxidative stress.
Her teaching career spans from 1995 to the present, including roles in the Faculty of Pharmacy and School of Specialization in Hospital Pharmacy at the University of Catanzaro, and currently at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Catania.
She has held key organizational responsibilities, including serving as the Rector's Delegate for Equal Opportunities at the University of Catanzaro (2002–2006) and as the Delegate for Internationalization and ERASMUS Program in the Department of Drug Sciences at UNICT since 2009.
Her academic journey began with honors degrees in Pharmacy (1980) and Pharmaceutical and Technological Chemistry (1984) from the University of Messina, followed by a research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA (1986–1987).
