Milagros Torres is a Professor in the UFR Lettres et Sciences Humaines at Université de Rouen Normandie, affiliated with the ERIAC research laboratory (UMR 4705). Her work focuses on Spanish Golden Age literature, particularly theater and poetry, with an emphasis on Lope de Vega and gender studies. She holds a Habilitation à diriger des recherches (2002) and has authored/co-edited numerous works on dramaturgy, metaphor, and performance.
Her research interests include the intersection of theater and poetry, narrative resolution in literature and film, and the representation of gender in dramatic works. She directs the Séminaire d’Études Théâtrales (SET) and has organized conferences such as El triunfo de La Dama boba (2019) and Punto final: en busca del desenlace (2017). She contributes to editorial boards including Sinapia. Dossiers hispaniques and serves on committees for the Société des Langues Néo-Latines.
Her recent publications explore themes like metaphor in poetry, tragic elements in Lope’s works, and the role of women in early modern theater. She has also directed performances of classical Spanish plays, such as El castigo sin venganza (2013).
