Milad Marvian

Milad Marvian serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico, where he joined in 2020. He is also an active member of the Center for Quantum Information and Control (CQuIC), contributing to one of the leading quantum information research centers in the United States.

Dr. Marvian's research spans theoretical aspects of quantum computation with a strong emphasis on quantum error correction and quantum algorithms. His work explores critical connections between quantum computing theory and practical implementation challenges, particularly in the areas of quantum optimal control and open quantum systems. His research group has made significant contributions to fault-tolerant quantum computing, quantum simulation algorithms, and quantum machine learning approaches.

His recent publications reveal a strong focus on quantum error correction techniques, quantum algorithm development, and quantum information theory. The research demonstrates expertise across multiple quantum computing paradigms, with publications appearing in top journals including PRX Quantum, Physical Review Research, and IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. Dr. Marvian advises a substantial research group comprising multiple PhD students, postdoctoral associates, and undergraduate researchers. His teaching portfolio includes specialized quantum information courses such as Quantum Error Correction (ECE547/PHYS581) and Introduction to Quantum Information Science (ECE445/545-PHYS480/581), in addition to more general engineering mathematics courses.
