Mikko Karttunen

Prof. Mikko Karttunen is a Professor at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, affiliated with the Department of Physics & Astronomy and Department of Chemistry. He holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Computational Materials & Biomaterials Science and leads the SoftSimu Group, focusing on computational modeling at the interface of condensed matter physics, biology, and biomedical sciences.

• Research areas include lipid membranes, bacterial toxins, DNA translocation, and AI/ML-driven multiscale modeling.
• Awards: Elected member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, Canada Research Chair Tier 1, NSERC Discovery Accelerator, and Academy of Finland Fellowship.
