Prof. Mikhail Alexseev is Professor of Political Science and Bruce E. Porteous Chair at San Diego State University. His research examines threat perception in interstate conflicts, nationalism, and migration in Russia/Eurasia, with recent focus on Ukraine's democratic resilience. He directs longitudinal surveys tracking war impacts in Ukraine through NSF-funded projects.
Honors include the International Studies Association Best Book Award (2019) for Mass Religious Ritual and Intergroup Tolerance and recognition by the Association for the Study of Nationalities. His publications analyze security dilemmas in migration policy and post-Soviet territorial conflicts.
