Mike Roth

Dr. Mike Roth is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. He holds a B.Sc. (Honours) from Queen's University (1993) and a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1998), advised by Joe Harris. His research focuses on algebraic geometry, particularly its intersections with number theory, topology, and representation theory. Roth has held a postdoctoral position at the University of Michigan and has conducted research exchanges internationally, including a recent sabbatical in Italy. He currently supervises postdoctoral fellow Michael Perlman and leads the Queen's Math Club. His work explores classical questions in algebraic geometry, moduli spaces, vector bundles, and curves.

Research Interests: Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory, Topology, Representation Theory, Metric and Fractal Geometry, Theoretical Computer Science, Applied Discrete Mathematics, and Foundations of Mathematics.

Recent activities include contributions to the William Lowell Putnam Competition and extensive teaching, including courses on algebraic geometry, group theory, and calculus. Roth's research has been published in leading journals such as Inventiones Mathematicae, Journal of Algebraic Geometry, and Transformation Groups. His work bridges theoretical concepts with applications, emphasizing geometric and algebraic interplay.
