Mike Pulley

Mike Pulley is a Senior Lecturer at Clemson University’s Department of English, part of the College of Arts and Humanities. He teaches courses such as Introduction to Journalism, Writing for the News Media, and Science Writing & Communication. With over 20 years of professional journalism experience, he has published thousands of articles in outlets like the San Francisco Examiner, Sacramento Bee, and American City Business Journals, earning Associated Press awards. His poetry appears in journals like Carolina Quarterly and Cold Mountain Review.

Education: B.A. in Communication Studies (1985) and M.A. in Creative Writing (2006), both from California State University, Sacramento. His M.A. thesis explored white supremacists and their opponents in South Carolina and Idaho through creative nonfiction.

Awarded 'Pioneer Poet' by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission in 2008, Pulley bridges journalism, poetry, and academia. His research focuses on narrative nonfiction, science communication, and 20th-century literature.
