Mike Mauldin

Mike Mauldin is an Associate Professor of Practice and the inaugural F. Scott Dueser Director of the Excellence in Banking Program at Texas Tech University's Rawls College of Business. He transitioned to academia in November 2019 after a 41-year banking career, including 34 years as a CEO and 37 years in executive leadership roles. His banking experience includes serving as Chairman, President, and CEO of the Hereford Region of First Financial Bank.

Education: BBA in Computer Science from West Texas State University.

Research focuses on Banking Policy, FinTech, and Rural America issues. His expertise stems from leadership roles in industry associations like the Texas Bankers Association (Chairperson, 2012) and the American Bankers Association, where he chaired committees on grassroots engagement and membership.

Community involvement includes roles as mayor, chamber of commerce founder, and board member across various organizations. He emphasizes bridging academic preparation with industry needs through the Excellence in Banking program, leveraging his extensive network and legislative knowledge.
