Mihael Jeklic

Mihael Jeklic is a Lecturer and Director of Professional Skills at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. He holds a law degree from Harvard University and a PhD in cognitive psychology from University College London (UCL). His research focuses on cognitive biases—particularly myside bias—in legal decision-making, negotiation strategies, and the design of evidence-based training interventions to improve outcomes. Prior to academia, he worked as an investment banker and teaching assistant at Harvard’s Program on Negotiation.

Key research interests include:

• Heuristics and suboptimality in negotiation
• Cognitive traits predicting effective legal decision-making
• Debiasing techniques in litigation and arbitration

Publications emphasize lawyer cognition, with recent works exploring why even skilled legal advisers exhibit persistent biases. He leads the British Academy-funded project 'Myside Bias in Legal Advisers' (2022–2025), investigating interventions to mitigate bias in legal practice.

Teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs in negotiation and strategic decision-making. His role as Director of Professional Skills ensures students gain practical competencies through moot competitions and interdisciplinary collaboration.
