Mick Wilson

Mick Wilson is a Professor of Art and Director of Doctoral Studies at Hdk-Valand, University of Gothenburg. His work bridges artistic practice, curatorial theory, and educational critique, focusing on political imaginaries of foodways, institutional conflict, and knowledge production. He leads the annual Art & Politics summer course and has contributed to major publications in artistic research.

Research explores intersections between art, politics, and epistemology through projects like curatorial practice analysis and institutional critique. His edited volumes address curatorial methodologies and educational frameworks in contemporary art.

Publications reflect engagement with posthumanist theory, decolonial pedagogy, and the ethics of exhibiting contested histories. He co-edited landmark texts such as Curating After the Global (MIT Press) and How Institutions Think (MIT Press).

Teaching and advising emphasize critical engagement with art institutions' roles in knowledge systems. Current initiatives include the EU4ART European University curriculum development project.
