About
Mick Mulder is an FSE Fellow at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering, working within the High-Energy Frontier — Van Swinderen Institute for Particle Physics. His research focuses on particle physics with beauty quarks, tests of lepton flavour universality, and searches for new fundamental particles.
His expertise spans B-hadron production, data analysis, simulation, and efficient computing methods in high-energy physics. Mulder serves as Convener of the Very Rare Decays working group within the LHCb collaboration and contributes significantly to multiple LHCb research projects including Lepton Flavour Universality in rare B baryon decays, Leptonic rare B meson decays, b-hadron production, and the VELO motion system upgrade.
Mulder actively teaches as a Co-lecturer in Subatomic Physics and Co-teacher for Building Blocks of Matter (minor Einstein's Universe). He supervises high-school, bachelor, master, and honours college projects and internships, with a track record of mentoring numerous students through PhD research, master's projects, and CERN Summer Student programs.
His recent publications (2025) demonstrate expertise across multiple areas of particle physics, with particular emphasis on B-meson decays, CP violation studies, lepton universality tests, and precision measurements within the LHCb experiment framework. These works collectively advance our understanding of fundamental particle interactions and potential deviations from the Standard Model.
Mulder has supervised numerous students including PhD candidates Lex Greeven and Silvia Ferreres Solé, along with multiple master's students and CERN Summer Students. His research output is substantial, with 238 research outputs and 47 datasets documented in institutional records.
