Michelle Searle

Dr. Michelle Searle is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at Queen's University. She holds a PhD in Education from Queen's University (2013) and a BA in Drama and English from The University of Western Ontario (1998). She is a Credentialed Evaluator (CE) with the Canadian Evaluation Society and a member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). Her research focuses on enhancing program evaluation through collaborative approaches and innovative knowledge dissemination, integrating mixed methods and arts-informed inquiry to inform policy and practice. She has extensive international teaching experience and has developed courses for pre-service teachers in Canada and abroad. Dr. Searle’s work spans education and health sectors, emphasizing evidence-based decision-making and capacity building.

Her research interests include program evaluation methodologies, the role of technology in education, and social justice in educational settings. Notable awards include recognition from the American and Canadian Evaluation Associations. Dr. Searle has led research teams in diverse contexts, collaborating with organizations in Colombia, Spain, Morocco, and others. She advocates for proactive support for LGBTQ+ students in teacher education and explores the impacts of technology on assessment practices post-pandemic.

Dr. Searle’s scholarly contributions address evaluation capacity building through experiential learning, such as the Evaluation Capacity Case Challenge. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and creative methods like arts-informed inquiry to expand educational practices. Her work bridges theory and practice, aiming to strengthen institutional policies and community-university partnerships.
