Michelle R. Newberry

Michelle R. Newberry serves as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Brock School of Business at Samford University, teaching Principles of Accounting while advising Beta Alpha Psi (accounting honor society), Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Her academic credentials include:

• Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) from the University of Alabama
• Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) from the University of Alabama

Her research focuses on accounting methodologies, financial reporting standards, and auditing practices, informed by her prior industry roles as Senior Financial Analyst at Southern Progress Corporation (Time Inc.) and Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young. This practical experience shapes her applied teaching approach in corporate finance and taxation.

Dr. Newberry actively mentors students through campus organizations and serves as Scholarship Chair of the Medalist Club. She is a member of Red Mountain Church (PCA) and resides in Homewood, Alabama with her husband Collin Newberry (Accounting Policy Department, Protective Life) and daughter Stella.
